Richard D. Marciniak, M.D., Board Certified Psychiatrist

Dr. Marciniak has been practicing psychiatry in Colorado Springs since 1997. He graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School, and completed his psychiatric residency at Duke Medical Center in 1985. He completed a fellowship in forensic psychiatry at the Issac Ray Center, Chicago in 1986. His areas of special interest include bipolar disorders and complex psychopharmacology issues. In addition, Dr. Marciniak is the director of the Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) Program at Peak View Behavioral Health.  In his spare time, he enjoys scuba diving, skiing and fly-fishing. His two English Setters and his horse keep him busy on the weekends. 

 

   

Ted Smith, Physicians Asst.                                                                 

Ted brings a wholistic approach to your mental health.  Before becoming a Physician Assistant, he practiced as an Acupuncturist for several years.  Ted graduated from the Red Rocks Physician Assistant Program and earned a Master’s Degree in Medicine from St. Francis University Medical School in 2010.  Since that time, he has been practicing Forensic Psychiatry at the Colorado Mental Health Institute-Pueblo (CMHIP).  In 2019, Ted was awarded a Certificate of Added Qualification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Ted was pleased to join Rocky Mountain Neuropsychiatric Associates in October 2020, bringing his decade’s long experience to you, our patient.  

Benjamin Mikolaj, DNP, PMHNP, is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner providing psychiatric care to adults in Colorado Springs. Ben offers thoughtful, collaborative medication management alongside psychotherapy-informed treatment, with a focus on trauma, mood and anxiety disorders, PTSD, moral injury, psychotic disorders, and stress-related conditions. He brings extensive experience from inpatient and outpatient mental health, crisis care, and contemplative practice. His approach is integrative and holistic, focusing on the whole health of the individual, including the impact of diet, exercise, and community on mental health. He offers psychotherapeutic approaches—Internal Family Systems (IFS), CBT, and depth psychology—as well as medication management. He has a love of mindfulness-based practices, such as meditation, and offers these evidence-based tools to those interested. As an Iraq combat veteran and former VA peer support specialist, Ben has expertise supporting individuals healing from complex or cumulative trauma. He has a particular passion for working with people recovering from religious trauma and those within the LGBTQ+ community. His approach is compassionate, nonjudgmental, and grounded in helping people build wellness, meaning, and autonomy while tailoring treatment to each person’s values and goals. He is available for medication-management or psychotherapy appointments, and is working to integrate ketamine-assisted psychotherapy into his practice soon. 

In his personal life, Ben enjoys trail running, live theater, and sci-fi and fantasy genres. He is an active Buddhist practitioner and teacher in his spiritual community. He lives with his loving wife, Stephanie, and their dog Kraken.

Tiffany, Office Manager

Tiffany has been with Rocky Mountain Neuropsychiatric Associates since 2004. She started her journey at the front desk assisting our patients, building a passion for mental health over the years. In 2013, Tiffany filled the role of office manager.  She enjoys the responsibility of her management position, however, you will likely find her at the front desk or on the phone, helping patients with their needs. She truly enjoys interacting with patients. When she is not working, she enjoys reading, writing her novel and spending time with her daughters, husband, and Corgi.  

Cecilia Brooks, Administrative Assistant

Cecilia has worked for RMNA since 2017.  She has experience on both the inpatient and outpatient sides of care.  She has a passion for mental health, working on a degree in Clinical Psychology.  Cecilia works with patients directly on a daily basis, both by phone and in office.  Her compassion and kindness towards our patient base is indispensable.  When she is not working, she loves to cook amazing food.
